(adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({}); As the "PSN outage" extends and tensions run high, there has been a high increase in threads that generally say the same thing. They all seem to point to one factor, that a lot of people only play games for the multiplayer.

Now, I'm alot older than some users ( I'm 27 ) and when I was a kid, if you wanted to play games with your friends you would have to go to their house, not just party up. So for me, playing offline is no problem.

Playing Offline

Although most of the popular games seem to be designed as a multiplayer game, they still contain a story mode and many games have multiple offline modes.

I recently bought the new Mortal Kombat, there's so much to do that I probably won't play it online until I finished all the other things I've started. I also have been playing the Crysis 2 and Black Ops campaigns, because if PSN was up I'd just be playing the multiplayer.

These can help take the hours of boredom away. Already completed it? well put it on the hardest setting and go back in.

You could probably find a guide right here on NGU!

Trophies

All games have these, use this time to go back and get ones that you forgot about or couldn't be bothered with. If your bored and your ps3 is your only source of entertainment, then trophy hunting can be a good sport.

When I first ever got a ps3, I didn't even have internet, trophy hunting was all I could do.

I know trophies may not be everyone's interest, but it does look cool to have a few platinums in your collection.

(Online trophies usually make up a small percentage of the total amount.)

Again, you can probably find help with trophies here on NGU.

Your ps3 can also;

Play stored music
Play CDs
Play Blue Rays and DVDs
Browse on the internet

So there are plenty of things that you can still do with your ps3, and even more things are available away from your ps3.

Live your life?

Enjoy the weather
Go play some sports
Go to the gym
Go to the cinema
Get a haircut
Do anything !!!

Life has so much to offer you, but you just won't take it.

ok im 30 and when i was young we used to be in the arcades like crazy and then we would have our consoles at home to play friends when they come over. but you would end up whopping your friend every single time. so it got boring just like offline play. i like playing a game for the competition. especially FPS . so imo ONLINE GAMING IS VERY IMPORTANT

Hell ya its important the only reason i bought a ps3 was to play online. If i couldnt play online agian i would sell it and get a 360. Also online service is the only reason i would by a game. I dont play to RPG games so usally only takes a couple of days to bet single player mode.

The only reason i bought a ps3 is for 2 reasons, big title mmo rpgs (GTA, The Elder Scrools and Mass Effect), other then that, i bought it only for Online Only, technically, back in the day it was only single players, none of the multiplayer games were that populare till like Xbox and PS2 started to end for the Xbox 360 and PS3, PC games started to get Internet Gaming Important before that, ever since Star Wars Battlefield 2 and Alien Vs Predator 2 was released, online play now pretty much makes games sell now, exception of big titled RPG games, i remember when racing was the biggest in gaming, now racing games are no where near as big as it was back then. The Facts of today are without online play, the system simply will not pull enough funds or effective funds, unless were talkin about every big singleplayer game hit the console or system, such as pokemon, mario, anime games, fallout, elderscrolls, gta, halo (halo is pretty balanced between story and online) and etc.

I do wish they would bring back the old style Turok games back, those games did do pretty well on N64 even the first one did.

But thats just a point out, also ive been driving around or talkin to friends because of this..

Also i would like to point out one factor of online gaming, it can ruin lifes in ways, turning someone who loves being outside or outdoors, and changing them to a indoor wargod with a controller.

No, not at all. But with no PSN you can't. So what I'm saying is, playing offline isn't a bad option. ( although it's the only option )
