Since the new 3.61 firmware for the Playstation Network, you're required to change the password of your account in order to get online (this is if your state / region is online). Remember, you MUST have a working e-mail that can receive notifications.

Step 1.) Sign in by using your (real) e-mail & password to your Playstation Network account. Once again, your e-mail MUST be real!

Step 2.) Select the 'Change Your Password' option after 'logging on', once you've done this, just follow the steps as you regularly would.

There are a few problems that you may encounter along the way:

  • If the screen for entering your new password doesn't pop up, this means your account hasn't been activated on Playstation Network using that account. If that happens; Sony will send you an automatic message to your e-mail, where in that message it'll take you to the Playstation website, to change your password.

  • If you've forgotten your password, you have to change it on the Playstation website.

If you've forgotten your password, then click the 'Forgot Your Password?', then you'll type in your e-mail associated with that account & your date of birth, & for the third time, IT MUST BE A REAL E-MAIL. If the e-mail isn't real, it'll give you an error. Then all you have to do is access your e-mail address & follow the steps in the message.

If the PSN account you're using is a sub account, you may be required to first sign in using the master account that governs it to change the password.

I am in North Carolina, I had a fake Email. It said I must change my password I changed it and that was it. It allowed me to log on. Email wasn't required for me to change my password.

Hey, I've just been looking on this page;
You must login or register to view this content.
It says you can change your password on your pc if you can answer your security question, or have the conformation e-mail sent. But I can't try it yet because it's not up in my region.
