I went to my PS3 and it said my password is no longer valid. I pressed "Ok." and then the next screen has an error and it returned me to the XMB.

I went to the PSN website to try to sign in, and it said:



My friends have received their resets in 30 minutes or less.

Am I doing something wrong? Is there another way to reset my password? Will creating a new account let me play online?

UPDATE: I tried signing in on a different account, and it would let me change my password right on the PS3.
I tried making a new account and it let me play online too.
It's just my original PSN that doesn't work. I'll call Sony too.

because i was referencing what you said

try using the "lost password" button it might come through quicker as it will prob come from a differnt part of the server or where ever it comes from

im gonna do this but only cos i have 3 accounts... so i got like more chance of getting 1 account online but im also gonna make a new account too and see if that works i just wanna play!!!

if u do lost password it will ask u to enter the date of birth u used for that account and then ask if u want a email sent on how to change ur password, so al together u will be stuck in the same situation

I have the same problem as the thread starter...downloaded the update last night at 10PMEST, was told I would receive and e-mail and still haven't gotten it as of 5:40PMEST today. I called Playstation support and they told me that due to the amount of e-mails being sent, it is taking some time (up to 24 hours) for them to be received. He told me to call back tomorrow (after 24 hours has passed) if I still have not received my password reset e-mail. Hope that helped...

if you didnt get email u will rest it ur pw on psn much easier ( me )
if u have the email then u have to do it on mail which is easy but crap
