(adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({}); This must be the ultimate dream for a lot of gamers out there, playing games and making money doing so. But how does it really work? How much competence is needed when it comes to programming? How do you get into this line of work.

I've been doing some research because I thought I'd might get the chance to do this sometime in the future. At EA they have a lot of these jobs posted and no specific set of skills needed except a keen sense and analytical abilities while playing games.

Have anyone else looked into this? Could it be that someone on this site even works as a QA at the moment?

I just thought I'd get everyones take on the #1 Dream Job out there Smile

Haxor!
i too have been working and researching for these jobs.. to test games and get paid would be the life. but from what ive seen you need connections! one of my moms friends used to work for Sony. and she told me that you truly need some analitical skills and notice alotta detail. you need to have good writing skills and stuff like that.
to tell you the truth i think you need alotta connections in the gaming industries.. the guys at Machinima or something.. ima look more into this during summer.

At least I can fight
Well I'm into this too & I've done my research.

Basically you need a High School Diploma, advanced communication skills/high level of vocabulary & such, & your own console.

They pay you by hour (God knows how they know if you're actually playing that much hours :carlingSmile. They also require good feedback & review. Some companies go up to $25+ per hour.

Hope I helped :y:

Done my research on this last year and tried to apply to a lot but its almost impossible to get into this. Also it's not as fun as you may think... Sometimes you are told to jump in one spot for hours and see if anything happens :S i.e checking for glitches!

@OP this is possibly one of the most annoying and boring jobs a gamer can have, most of the time you'll be QA testing Barbie and her gay ponies, doing the same level 4-5 hours straight (if you're lucky).

IF you think it like the betas the public test no
Pay also quite poor too, starting out anywho

No programming skills are needed from what i know your just a tester who has to complete forms.

AS for getting a job that quite hard
Hard because no many needed and not often gaps. Saying that in order to get a job often testers are found from within the dev team or close to the company.

Pro tip: don't openly sleep with the bosses daughter (might make your job a little less painful).
