Sony Won't Repeat PS3 Investment

So as most of us know, Sony have now started to work on a new console, obviously going to be called the PS4 I heard a Rumor that it isn't going to be made and released until 2014 but you can't trust rumors! Disappointingly, Sony have admitted that they aren't going to invest nearly as much money as they did for the PS3, which means it may not even be as good.
During an investor briefing, CFO Masaru Kato noted that:

reduced PS3 manufacturing costs had helped Sony over the past year. With that in mind, it is no longer thinkable to have a huge initial financial investment like that of the PS3."

Kato responded to a question from an investor about R&Awesome face costs by admitting that a new console was at least it Sony's thoughts.
He said:

"For the home equipment the PS3 still has a product life, but this is a platform business, so for the future of the platform, when will we introduce it? What product? I cannot discuss that. But development is already underway."

Yesterday, Sony had a reported profit of £267.4 million from their online network product and services. ("Sales revenue growing at 0.4%). This is a lot better than the previous year's £625.6 million loss. This probably shows why Sony have decided to do this.

So if Sony decide to keep the investment small, will the PS4 actually be better than the PS3? Tell me what you think!

Sony probably made a lot of losses off the hacking-situation. So this is a pretty logical step to take

Pretty sure it already posted....
Anywho

What this means is sony not going to build a new CPU , new storage option. As that made them a loss they built their own CELL factoires which in this day and age costs a bomb.
In other words they are building a console from the ground up because they already have a base.
Also it means a cheaper console for us Smile

Just hope that PSN is improved for the PS4 or sony going to have a hard sell

That sucks, I was looking forward to the PS4, maybe a new console by another company in the future?

There is no need for Sony to spend as much on PS4 development as they did on PS3. The two more costly parts of the PS3's development was Cell and Blu-Ray, both of which I'd expect Sony to carry over to the PS4. Blu-Ray drives are costing less to buy and produce, they can throw in another SATA drive as those are cheap too. I'm not too sure about Cell, but in about 3 years I'd expect a more powerful, yet cost effective processor to be used. It's just a matter of them slapping in some better RAM, better graphics and 12 new ways they'll try to stop piracy.

i think the ps4 is going to be good but not as good as the ps3 because if they aint going to put much money into it its going to get hacked more than the ps3

Do a barrel roll!
I believe that it might be as good as the PS3 or even better

Reason:
They made an amazing console already using a lot of money, they know what they're doing to make an advanced console so they will not have to investigate a lot of new stuff therefor they will not have to spend as much money for making it. I think it will be good if they don't mess up anything and then having to spend more money on it (if they will make it).

todays day and age it takes more to make stuff more to buy stuff ect
so in reality it should cost more to make it now than the ps3 did saying there not gonna spend nearly that amount shows that it will not be top of the line hardware imo
