Sony Won't Repeat PS3 Investment

So as most of us know, Sony have now started to work on a new console, obviously going to be called the PS4 I heard a Rumor that it isn't going to be made and released until 2014 but you can't trust rumors! Disappointingly, Sony have admitted that they aren't going to invest nearly as much money as they did for the PS3, which means it may not even be as good.
During an investor briefing, CFO Masaru Kato noted that:

Kato responded to a question from an investor about R& costs by admitting that a new console was at least it Sony's thoughts.
He said:

Yesterday, Sony had a reported profit of £267.4 million from their online network product and services. ("Sales revenue growing at 0.4%). This is a lot better than the previous year's £625.6 million loss. This probably shows why Sony have decided to do this.

So if Sony decide to keep the investment small, will the PS4 actually be better than the PS3? Tell me what you think!

Just because theyre spending less doesnt mean much. most of the ps4 will just be a repackaged ps3.
they dont have to spend money to develop old things. the smaller budget will fund the new things added to make it noticeably different compared to ps3.And id guess theyll be charging for online just like live, seeing that most game companies are now charging to play the game itself online, its only a matter of time before sony hops on the bandwagon.

True they are not investing much right NOW! The reason they won't release to about 2014 is because that's when todays technology will be even cheaper. Sony doesn't want to have to make another console that has a starting price of $800 like the PS3 did, that just doesn't attract many buyers. The only reason it now sells for around $300 is because Blu-Ray players used to cost about $500 but now you can get them for a $100.

The only reason they lost money is because they made the Ps3 for MORE than they sold it for (About $20 less per system) is because they wanted to have Blu-ray has the main HD disc format, so now that they have done this there is no need to make the Ps4 for alot of money and sell it for less, but its years in the future now these items will cost less to make because there will be more efficiency in making the product so the Ps4 should include everything the Ps3 did plus more.

do u seriously think they lost 3.2 billion just from hacking???? they would've lost F.U.C.K all from hacking, u need to remember that sony makes so much stuff, not just ps3's, camera's, dvd players, tv's and so on... the ps3 section actually made money, it was the rest of sony that lost the money!!!!
