(adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({}); ok so i painted an old ps3 shell and i have a ps3 to put in it both are fat. and im having a hard time taing the newer fat out its like its stuck. i looked under and its got like two peices with gell( im assuming that they are the cpu and the gpu) but one is tilting and looks like its coming half our and the other is stuck to the motherboard and ithe video watched they just separated. is there any safe way to fix this?

Are you talking about the silver square shaped items, which are touching the fan? Yes, those are the HEATSINKS for the GPU and CPU, not the actual chips itself. You need to get thermal paste, and lift the one that seperated from the chip, cover it with arctic paste and just put it back on the chip. There is a video somewhere where this happened and they fixed it using this method. Just look on youtube.

I'm just guessing, but I think they make sure to keep the back of the PS3 intact so people don't switch serial numbers and return them to stores.

If those heatsink's come off you're going to have to reapply thermal paste, otherwise there's a high chance you will get the yellow light of death (YLOD). Also why have you taken the motherboard out, or attempted to? If you're just changing the case you shouldn't be separating the motherboard from the cooling system or the plate it's stuck to... it should simply lift out once all the screws are out.
