(adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({}); My PS3 overheats like crazy and because it's super dodgy when it overheats the WiFi thing (not sure on specific term) becomes all crappy and won't work properly.

so i was wondering is the official PS3 fan worth buying

Thankyou

If your ps3 keeps overheating I'm guessing it would be worth it, or get a new ps3 which ever makes life easier.

if its like a intercooler type thing it lly doesnt help because from my experience intercoolers just push the hot air back into the consoles

Do or Do Not, There is No Try
I recommend upgrading to the 19 blade OEM fan, and replacing your current thermal paste with a new paste. Also when you open up your console, use compressed air to clean all the dust out of the console.

I have a PS3 320GB SLIM and the fan for it seems great it keeps it cool for a couple of hours

good idea but too much effort for me tbh, i'm leaving soon and i won't be using my ps3 for a while so such extensive measures aren't necessary

if your ps3 overheats i would definitely get a fan because if it continues to overheat long enough you will be spending a couple hundred for a new one

For now, try taking your PS3 off of carpet. Try putting it on a stand, or wood, or by a window.

If it still overheats, a PS3 fan works really great.

This is the best solution in my experience. How long does your PS3 take to overheat? Do you keep it upright or flat?

It overheats for a reason. just replacing the fan will not help. The heat doesnt sink well into the fan to disburse it. This mean the paste to keep a firm contact between the sinks on the board probably needs replacing as well.
