Find someone local to you that will perform a "Re-Ball". Look on Craigslist.
Alternately, you can ship your console to somewhere like this:

I don't know if this is PERM fix but it should be fixed for a long time just follow this video:

If you fix it or get a new ps3 here are a few tips you should know/do to help prevent the ylod:

- Don't block the air vents
- Keep your ps3 dust free (You can use a vacum cleaner to suck the air out, but make sure it's low powered)
- Keep it in a place where alot of air can get to it (Keep it about 5 inches away from the wall), also don't have it cramped in a tight space
- If you have a hot room open your window to let some cold/cool air in

My PS3 got ylod, It was because I had an object at the back of the PS3 without knowing so the hot air couldn't get out - I should have been a bit more carefull.. I got it fixed by the method in this video but it got ylod again because i had it on the floor and under a desk so that was a fail. Hope your PS3 survives, I've been without my PS3 for about a month now and trust me... it's very very boring without one!

ALSO THERE IS 3 PARTS TO THE VIDEO SO CLICK ON THE VIDEO TO MAKE IT REDIRECT YOU TO THE VIDEO ON YOUTUBE THEN ONCE IT'S DONE YOU CAN SWITCH TO THE NEXT PART Winky Winky

I'm not particularly sure mate, I think the better the thermopaste you put on the CPU and GPU (Like in the vid) the longer it lasts.

Don't quote me on that though! I'm not entirely sure :/

I just searched on google and I read that "a good ylod fix should last years but a cheap one should last a few months" I'm not sure if that is true though.

Sorry that I haven't got your answer :~(

You aren't going to get a permanent fix yourself. A re-flow like in the video posted is only good for 3-4 months at best. I have re-flowed 7 consoles( with a professional re-flow stand at work, not a heatgun in the video) and 3 lasted 4 months, the others lasted 3 or less.

A true re-ball of the CPU and GPU is the only real fix.

Reballing is a permanent fix, but reflowing lasts between 1-5 months.
