(adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({}); My download speed on my ps3 is 96mbps and upload is like 37mbps and the signal strength is 100%... If I get a Ethernet cable from my router to my ps3 will it increase my download and upload speed? or is there another way to get a better connection?
Thanks,
Midgetz

Yes, you may see an increase in mbps with a wired connection ( actually I pretty sure you will) and you should see a decrease in ping.

Though, ps3's speed test thing sucks balls.

It will but not by much, it will be running strait from the ps3 instead of having to be processed by the router I would say you would get less than a half a mb difference.

He should see more then that hopefully.. For example when I run my laptop or my ps3 through wireless I get about 15-20mbps @ 100% signal, and when I go wired I see a norm of 25-40mbps.. not using the stupid ps3 speedtest..

I just ran a speed test

wired 98.7 mb/s dl ul 26.4mb/s
wifi 98.1mb/s dl ul 25.9mb/s

thats a .6 loss on download running wifi
and a .5 loss on upload

unless your router is garbage I don't see you losing 20mb/s

How would I increase my mbps? Do i need a better router or/and better Internet?

Might be the router.. Netgear WNR3500L... I've always blamed it on my ISP

I should run some test in the morning to confirm if my previous information is correct.

Most likely its your internet, you can see what yours is at You must login or register to view this content. if your speed on wired here isnt good like 25mb/s your router wouldnt make a noticable difference.
overall if you want more speed your internet needs upgraded.

I went from 25mb to 100mb for like 20 more bucks a month. However my internet speed stays around 98 im not complaining though :P
