i would have to say an hmdi / vga cable would be your best bet

But if your monitor supports HDMI then just get HDMI

you can indeed but a hdmi will not work due to hdcp restrictions you need to use the componant cable and a vga converter, maplins sell one for about £80 it also has a built in tv tuner, i have one of these boxes and it can give a 1080i signal, here is a link to the box You must login or register to view this content.

you would probally need a VGA cable or use hdmi cable
