I got a 60gb ps3 and I was on cod 4 when I got a message and pressed the PS button. Oh Look My PS3 Has Crashed! Great! So I turned the PS3 Off at the BACK! Turned it back on and just a black screen =[ After a lot of trying and different wires and tvs and rebooting etc but after about 30 seconds the ps3 freezes and loads of coloured dots and lines come up on the screen :mad:

Ive bought a new hardrive but I aint got It yet(its On the way,Bought it off ebay) Do you think this will solve the problem?? Any Help Is MUCH appreciated! Ta:cool:

thats why you shouldnt switch your ps3 off at the back? shit like that could happen ^^

Does the screen turn black as soon as you turn it on? Or when you click on the game?
You should try formating it.

do you get a yellow like when u boot up??

Did the screen go black when you booted it or when it crashed, coz it happends 2 me but my screen goes black bcoz it Changes its Display Settings n It Wont come up until i change it back to HDMI

Firstly dont ever turn your ps3 system of at the back, thats what causes alot of damage. To stop your system from crashing again delete all of your messages in the sent and inbox.


Have you tried using a scart lead/component instead of a HDMI? If so whats coming up on the screen? Try using different HDMI ports on your TV.
When you turn it on does the XMB come up? If it is have a fiddle about with the display settings, e.g. 720p, 1080i, 1080p

If you have a 360 or one of your friends have a ps3, try connecting this to the tv. It can narrow down the problem to either being your tv or you console.

Its Defo the console cos ive tried different tv's and different leads(HDMI And Scart) First of all the screen was blank. I got onto cod 4 twice but it froze and the dots came up! Then I formatted teh console but when it says to enter the date(after about 30 seconds of the console being on) The dots come up and it freezes =[ I should have a new hardrive tomorrow so I will let you all know if it works. I dont get a yellow light(YLOD) and no the XMB doesnt come up because ive reformatted it and I cant get further than the date =( Ive also tried changing the display settings and stuff but nothing =[ =[ =[ WAAAHHH lol Just hope the hardrive works

Had a search about. The only way that some people have fixed it is by doing a full system restore. This wipes out the hard drive completely. Is this the one that you done?

Yep! Full Format But Nothing Ive got a new hardrive that should be at home today but havent been home yet:p I will give you the news ^
