(adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({}); There are a few simple steps to open all the ports to your ps3 - which will greatly increase the quality of your connection for all online features.

Note: This also works for Xbox, however I don't own an Xbox so I don't know the steps for setting up a static IP.

Determine your Default Gateway

1. On your computer, go to the start menu and click Run. From there, type in cmd. When the command prompt comes up, type in ipconfig. Write down the Default Gateway that shows up.

Set up PS3 using manual IP
1. Go to your Playstation Settings, then to Network settings. From there, click Internet connection settings.

2. Select Custom, then your type of connection (Wired or Wireless)

3. At the network device settings page, select auto-detect

4. At the IP address settings page, select manual IP. For the IP address, take your Default Gateway and put in there, but with a different number at the very end. EX: If your default gateway was 192.168.1.0, I would put the IP as 192.168.1.99. The .99 at the end is the device number, this number is convenient as it is unlikely you have 99 other devices on the network.

5. Unless you have manually changed your subnet mask, it will be 255.255.255.0

6. For the Default Router, Primary DNS, and Secondary DNS, input your Default Gateway.
Note: You can also put 8.8.8.8 as your primary DNS and 8.8.4.4 for your secondary DNS to use Google DNS instead of your own router's DNS.

7. MTU - Automatic

8. Proxy server - Do not use

9. UPnP - ENABLED

Putting your Router into DMZ (opening all ports)

1. Type your default gateway into your internet browser and go there. It will ask for a password. Look at your router provider's website for the default username and password.

2. Look for the DMZ option (In my router it is under Applications and Gaming)

3. Enable DMZ for the Static IP you gave your ps3. (the static IP was the first number you put in your ps3's settings)

4. To do this, it is quite simple. For source IP, make sure it says any IP. for destination, enter your static IP.

5. While you are in your router's settings, look for the option named UPnP and enable it. It is usually located under 'Administration'

Your PS3 is now in your router's DMZ!

If you need help finding the DMZ for your router, quote this post and reply with your router Manufacturer and model.

So you can use 8.8.8.8 for Primary and 8.8.4.4 for secondary. I never knew that at all, I may give this ago see if it improves anything better than my routers current one's. As for DMZ my router is absolute ball crap, put it in DMZ it looses connection on everything it's weird. But my connection is mostly stable at points without DMZ so I kinda make do. Only issue I have is with EA titles, but bit of port forwarding solves the issues mostly.

Dont worry, my router fails when it goes into DMZ itself as stated in my original post. But if I port Foward the correct ports for persific games then it works good enough mostly for a stable connection. Only issue I had was with Medal of Honor on the PS3 where I disconnect after the first game but then it would be fine.

What seems to be your problem? And what brand is your router?

thanks to dmz im lag free now

I keep getting a DNS error code "An error occurred during communication with the server. This is a DNS error.(80710102)"

My router is a Motorola Surfboard SBG6580

I followed all steps to the letter. My router doesn't have much options for DMZ aside putting in the last digits of the IP and hitting "Apply"

Any help would be appreciated, thank you in advance!

EDIT: I was able to get it working. I had to change the DNS servers.

the problem is my nat type is always type 2/moderate no matter what ports i open,i also tried dmz and disabling firewalls and all different settings
my router is ASUS RT-N10
i think its problem with my isp i think its default setting in modem (i cant change any settings in modem because it doesnt have the options like routers)
i usually get 3bar or 5bar but i still lag alot and my connection is pretty good(rated A on both ping test and speedtest)
