so wondering if you guys had any suggestions?
Im thinking something free-roam and modern day based, something like mercenaries 2 or GTA4.

I like fifa 12 but Fallout is an amazing game you should check that out.

GTA 4 highly recommended, extremely fun, there is never nothing to do, you do whatever the F*** you want and no one can stop you I have too much fun playing that game,

Saint Row 3 seems to look good mate

Try Arkham City and Arkham Asylum, Red Dead Redemption (not modern but really good), L.A. Noire (same as previous, not modern but good), Battlefield 3, Saints Row the Third, Fallout 3 and Fallout New Vegas (I personally prefer the first one), Uncharted series.

The ones I recommend most: Uncharted and Batman Arkham series.

I've gone back to playing GTA, you will get a good 15-20 hours out of it for the main story, then after that there are loads of side missions.
