(adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({}); On Friday, I got the YLOD on my jailbroken PS3 ( WHYYYYYYY ) and I immediately did the YLOD fix on it. After I completed the fix, I noticed that my PS3 would only work for about 5mnutes, then it gives me that overheat message on PSN and soon after, it shuts off PS3 entirely.

Now today, I just got the thermal paste and applied it correctly thinking that would solve my problem, but it didn't.

So right now, I noticed after going through all options that it's the fan thats making the problem.

I have an Intercooler for my PS3 (The thing that attaches to the back) but it doesn't come on when I attach it.

Does anyone know what I can do to get my fan to start working? I'm thinking it has something to do with those 3 skinny chords that are connected to the motherboard or simply the thermal paste I added (dont see how thats the problem).

If the fan is broken, do i justt buy another 1 from somewhere and simply swap them out?

I even plugged a really big fan up to the back of the PS3 to get that blowing even more cool air but that wasn't enough either.

I really feel bad for you, the trouble you got to go trough to get the fan... You have a friend who has a spare ps3?

That's the bad part. I don't. I wish I still had my first YLOD PS3..... right now, I'm watching 3 different bids on eBay and 2 on Amazon.

Because I had to have taken apart and put the PS3 back together like 6 and no positive results. Its funny how I fix the YLOD problem and then I'm instantly hit with another heart-sinking obstacle.

I wouldn't bother getting a new fan, it's more than likely you have heated up the thermal censor in the PS3's processor and damaged it during the reflow.
I did the same thing with my 3.55, and now the fans go full blast, and I get an error message after 5 mins.
Sorry man!

My friend had approximately the same problem as you. His fan would not turn on while he was playing and the PS3 would shut off. He went to an electronics store that said they fix PS3s and he got it fixed for $30. Try it out.

Sorry but that isn't the issue I am having and it can't be possible. The reason I say this is because the fan didn't come on when I first got the YLOD and when I tried to do the fan test. So the problem ocured before I did the reflow and I had my cousin check it out. He also said that the problem was the fan.

BUT, I got the YLOD again without the fan working (I know why and it's not a big deal because I fixed it) today, so I'm waiting for my new fan to come in either tomorrow or Saturday so I can see if my PS3 is working.
