Make sure that the heat sinks in the bottom of your PS3 connect to the ones on the motherboard. When I was trying to install my E3 Flasher this happened to me. My PS3 fan would just get loud and then turn off due to over heating.

Umm could you take a pic or something showing where each heatsink or what ever goes?

You just need to make sure they are all touching each other.

Well, try taking a vacuum, and putting the little hose attachment to get all the dust out. Also, if you have it in a enclosed place, get it out of there. Put it somewhere where it has at least 2-5 feet from the nearest wall because the heat will get "trapped" in the walls and can cause the PS3 to overheat. 3rd, if none of this works, try going to gamestop and asking for a diagnoses(yes, they do that type of stuff).

1. make sure were your PS3 is, make sure it has space and put it on a hard surface such as plastic, wood or suspend it off the floor
2. Make sure the the room where it is isnt to hot or humid
3. buy a extra fan to be placed on the back for about £8 probally off amazon

Thermal paste is almost always the problem with overheating so try replacing that. Also, try a fan near the PS3 to help.
