If everyone stole games, where would the game data and fixes be for your pirated games? How would they come about?
Also, if game developers were no longer supported by the community (R*'s GameSpy counterpart) game servers and titles would cease to exist. Example, Midnight Club. Being a Greatest Hits PS3 Classic still wasn't enough to keep Midnight Club: Las Angeles CE online due to excessive modding/game sharing/pirating.
...mini rant over...
I don't think you even understand what pirating means.
Pirating is the act of specifically selling a copy of copyright works.
I really doubt anyone here actually pays for a bootleg blueray copy of any ps3 game, in fact id be willing to bet they all downloaded it legally because they didn't pay anyone for it.
Copyright does not legally cover the act of duplicating and sharing freely.
You are all being bluffed about this law.
Now as far as theft is concerned, the moment they, be it R* in this case, sold the first copy of their copyrighted works and they released this into the public domain. Thus, legally unless you broke into a warehouse and took off with a blue ray copy no theft has occurred and if someone wants to cry about how their product is being copied then its simply tough. Don't want it copied then keep it private.
If they want to ban someone access to a free service , fine that's legal, they can do what they like. But, on the other hand if you paid for something you are due what you are owed and no amount of small print will stand up in court. Because technically removing the ability to use something you paid for is theft.
