Sony has already settled on the date it intends to launch PlayStation 4, the platform holder has suggested.
Reflecting on the console's New York reveal event with You must login or register to view this content., Sony's Worldwide Studios vice president Michael Denny said "we know our launch date, and we think it's very important that gamers receive that new console experience.

"With that in mind, we just thought it was the right time to set the vision and set the agenda in New York."
Sony has yet to publicly announce a specific release date for PlayStation 4, but has confirmed that the console will launch in at least one territory in 'Holiday 2013'.

It isn't yet known whether the console will launch in the UK this year, despite You must login or register to view this content. You must login or register to view this content. from retailers.
But if Sony really has settled on a release date for PS4 internally, it would suggest that the firm is relatively far along in the console's production.

Back at the console's announcement in February, SCE UK MD Fergal Gara told VideoGamer.com that one of the reasons it hadn't announced a You must login or register to view this content. was due to the firm "working through all sorts of production schedules".

"Unless we decided it was a year and a half away: you could probably commit to any date you like if you go that far away," he said, "but we want to get it out to market quickly and pricing those various commercial variables to be fully weighed up that we're not fully worked through."

Tbh im excited and want it to be released but at the same time i dont want them to rush it, aslong as microsoft remains hush sony should, you know if sony was to say a released date microsoft would go release a month or two earlier and i think sony would do the same this time around too.

personally i think they was caught off guard, and now theyre preparing for a announcement themselves, maybe before e3 maybe at e3. but no1 will say a release date yet or the other company will just beat them to the release.

i know your talking to lew but i wanted to chime in Smile

i think Microsoft wasn't expecting an early announcement from Sony, the funny thing is i also think Sony knew or has alot of inside information about the Xbox while it was being developed, because they are really pushing the fact that the ps4 is all about the gamer, they said at the conference games WILL come first. if you look up interviews they are really pushing that point hard.
meanwhile if you look at all the shit coming from leaked spec's and information/disinformation pretty much everything that was leaked about ps4 is true so i can only assume the same from Xbox at this point.

if you have windows 8 you will notice Microsoft is really going after the app market, and Xbox plays a big role in it. they even have an Xbox games app right there on the main screen, click it and it brings up your Xbox profile and the store. if windows 8 has anything to do with where Microsoft is taking Xbox then thats pretty shitty.
in windows 8 OS the apps are always on and running in the back ground so its always connected to the internet in some small way, of course you can shut the apps off but that isn't the point im making, im simply saying if Xbox has a windows 8 based/styled OS in it then its flawed from the start.
after recent twitter posts and then the firing of of Adam after he said what he did, im thinking the info is about 90+% true and Microsoft has seen the world reaction about "always on" tech dealing with Xbox and they might be trying to back peddle and do some last minute changes or figuring out how to spin it before they revel anything. hell the conference they were supposed to have was pushed back after all the twitter shit and outrage over always on.

i don't think Microsoft is afraid of the PS4's specs or anything dealing with Sony, Xbox has a very loyal following and will defend it tooth and nail, which is fine because PlayStation owners are the same way lol. i think they are afraid they might have fk'd up with always on because they took a huge ass whooping on all the game sites and forums and media outlets because of the rumor. just because of those two words "always on" is the only reason i think Xbox has to worry about their loyal customers sticking with them.

Sony already had a rough timetable to release the console that means they been planning it for ages.
Just they only started production, which is why we not had a date yet they can't say if they have enough units ready to send around the world.

As long as the PS4 is released by end of this year and is up to expectations then great, otherwise they might as of announced it at autumn saying it be released next spring...
