I do want to change my PSN ID instead of making a new one because of all the friends and trophy I have. But I wouldn't mind making a new one

Humm, this is an interesting topic, part of me wants to change ID's or at least having the option to change it.
But i would love it if all PSN ID's got reset for PS4.

Unless PSN Network for PS4 is different from PS3, i can't see this happening.

Yes I know, but it's pointless for them to erase a load of accounts for new people then if you can just set your name to that of others anyway.

ive not heard anything about them resetting unused accounts... so they will just remain as potential accounts for ever i suppose until the day comes when they have to do something as every name is taken, which i think is why 'real name' id is coming in.

people will end up making names like asabssbdhabd as the online id and then linking their real name up as john smith for example to mask it

The PS4 cannot reset the PSN account DB. Because firstly the accounts are held in the network and not the actual console (duh) and secondly because there is a lot of sensitive data that could possibly get deleted by mistake, So I don't think Sony would dare touch the DB... unless they got a request from NSA of course.

PS4 will allow you to change your Id aslong as you pay it's just logic. it has to be.
