So this means that all those purchases you have made previously will not work on Playstation 4, well at least at launch anyways. We kind of already knew this but there was a small part of me that hoped Sony would have it worked out for launch. Maybe the cloud streaming service that Sony recently acquired will be able to store this content and allow you to have backwards compatibility this way.

It has been previously confirmed that the streaming cloud based service from Gaikai will hit Playstation 3 and Playstation 4 sometime in 2014. It’s currently unknown whether your current game library will have to be purchased again in order to use the service, or if a discount scheme will be offered for games you already own. Does this mean that we will have to wait till next year for backwards compatibility? Many consumers could be very fond of their current generation consoles and will probably be won’t be willing to trade them in just yet, so we can’t really see the wait for backwards compatibility being a big issue.

I wonder if a PS3 game is available through that cloud gaming service, if you put the PS3 disc in your PS4 it will let you play it through the cloud service.

im glad i already have ps+. so, i can upload my save to the cloud & download them. just the saves that are locked.

Not possible it has to be ported to work on ps4 architecture either way

well let's hope that in the future, PS3 purchased in PSN can play in PS4. For now, let's stick it to PS3..
