(adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({}); My friend just showed me this article that states that the PS4 will not have HDCP attatched to it. What that means is all you folks (myself included) that have an elgato, or some other hdmi based cap card, will be able to record it in beautiful HD with an HDMI.

Personally this is a major plus for me. I bought an elgato just in anticipation that they might make this move. What are your thoughts on this?

Actually this is only half right, HDCP IS on the PS4, it is just active during Bluray movies and certain apps like Netflix/Hulu. So yes, you can record games, which I heard it will have to be a patch after release to allow it but not sure on this, but HDCP is on the console.

Exactly, but I heard it will be a patch after release cause Sony wasn't planning on this until they got caught. Won't bother me as I've cancelled my PS4 preorder and will wait a year for some games and bug fixes to happen.

I heard it's on the entire console, and they plan to take it off post-launch.

It's really great because HDCP on PS3 was such a thing...a pain
