My friend's PSN was "mommasdoubleds" and basically they suspended him I'm assuming after he hit a certain amount of grief reports and he had to call them and on the phone they changed his psn to a new one of his choice. he picked a dumb name again but that's besides the point. he kept all his trophies and all his ranks and progress in everything.

my mate had rim_-_licker he got banned called the up they changed his name to gta-rim he phoned them he still had his cod account and gta

yep, they can i have proof and posted over at he official forums, it just got dismissed :| my friend who i actually know had his account completely cloned by them with a different name, trophies, purchases all on his new account, although his activities were still showing on his new account were showing on his old account too which was banned from use.

its only a matter of time before all the names are used up and they have no choice but to implement it, i still think its being looked into. time will tell.

You can't lose game data and trophies .. It's stored on your PS3 so unless you have to do a reset it should all stick once the name is changed .. Or you could just copy the saves before and resign them
