Post: E3 Sucked & Microsoft Were Even Worse

(adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({}); Okay, so I'd find it hard to believe that the majority of you weren't completely disappointed by this year's E3 like myself, for multiple reasons.

First and foremost, there were no real shocks. Everything was already leaked a few days earlier and even then things like Halo 4 were hardly surprising given Microsoft's lust for money. Then were was Sony, who really were as dull as dull can be. Then Nintendo managed to bore us even after announcing a new console- how? They paraded around the stage with a f*cking stupid controller, and they just talked about it the whole time. Gameplay was at a minimum, and even then they used gameplay from the PS3, 360 or PC. And OMG the name, Wii U? Really? A 6YO with a crayon could have done better!

I'm going to try now to remain calm, because surely Microsoft aren't going to give us a 90-minute Kinect commercial for the second(third?) year running..? WRONG!

Now, here's what really frustrated me about MS' E3 conference. They are trying to sell a product that will not appeal to the hardcore gamer, and they should know that, so why the f*ck are they advertising it like this at E3 which is watched primarily if not entirely by hardcore/core gamers? They should be advertising the fad-of-a-peripheral on TV in ads and on shows like Loose Women and other shows of the like, where they can capture the audience of parents who need a Christmas present for their kid, not hardcore gamers at E3. Maybe parents will enjoy watching 2 kids pretend to go to Disneyland and have a great time, but we will not. And maybe had MS STFU about the Kinect just for 5 minutes this year their conference wouldn't have been such a huge failure, but alas they failed to do so and the conference was a failure, an overwhelming one.

At the end of the day the best conferences were undoubtedly by EA & Ubisoft, which is funny considering Ubisoft only have 1(2?) good IP(s) and EA blatantly lied at the start of their conference as they took a jab at Microsoft for parading celebrities around the stage.

My anger at this year's E3 knows no bounds and I could have gone on for a lot longer(MW3 would have been next :smhSmile, but I don't want too many tl;dr replies lol :p

Comment below your opinion on E3, and whether you agree that Microsoft are approaching advertising the Kinect all wrong.

Indeed! Us long-time gamers would enjoy something new, but nothing stupid. That's why people have been sticking with like Gran Turismo for car racing & Call of Duty for FPS... But the developers obviously can't just make new maps & have everything the same, so they add in [pointless] stuff, because they're not creative enough to even consider what the crowd wants, like seriously in Black Ops, destructible bridges? That's just lame. At LEAST add in some new guns or weaponry that's unique so we have a new experience with CoD. I don't recall there ever being any DLC for guns for Call of Duty 4, 5, 6, or 7. SOCOM 4 has JUST came out & there's already DLC for guns, which is great. We just want something different, haha.

E3 isn't open to the public, so most likely game designers, publishers, press, etc. are there.

And personally, I thought Microsoft's E3 presentation wasn't amazing, but it wasn't bad. I think much of the news on Microsoft's side has been great, many cool new games and add-ons to look forward to. I didn't see all of Nintendo, it did not seem that good though. And for Sony, it was not that good at all. Sony only had one thing that sounded great was bringing back Twisted Metal, when I saw all the trailers and videos of it, wow, it looks terrible. Microsoft definitely did the best again. I will agree it wasn't as great as last year, but it was still a really good presentation and show. Many Kinect titles looked nice to, huge variety as well, finally we should be able to see how much further the Kinect can even go. Kinect definitely is already further and can definitely be expanded upon better than the copy-cat Wii controller with a lightbulb. Also, I'm not a fan of Forza Motorsports which is a 360 exclusive title. I think the graphics were always great, but gameplay not as much. But Forza Motorsports 4, wow, the graphics are so amazing, during the presentation I thought they were showing video of the cars that would be in the game before showing what they looked like in the game, but it was the actual graphics. Hopefully the gameplay is more fun. And I can't wait for Battlefield 3, as well as Halo 4.

Right, but newspapers and TV shows don't report on E3 whilst millions of hardcore gamers watch it live on their computers etc... so who should they be catering for?

No, it was bad. For every single game they groaned on about Kinect as if they thought doing so would force us to purchase the bloody thing. They continued to advertise it right up until they got those kids to act out going to Disneyland and wherever else; by that point it was embarrassing to watch. And I know a lot of other people agree with me on that.

Ok, if all they're showing is Kinect when 95% of people watching E3 simply aren't interested then would you say that was good variety? We don't care about Kinect titles. We don't care about Kinect compatibility. We don't bloody care about pretending to enjoy ourselves in Disneyland. And we don't care whether Kinect succeeds or not. Get what I'm saying?

And yes, Kinect is a good piece of technology however it would be much better off as a PC peripheral or at the very least advertised for the 360 a long, long way away from E3...

Right, you're starting to sound like a fanboy right here. Yes Microsoft did innovate a little more than Nintendo & Sony, however like them Microsoft are still just cashing in on a very annoying fad. No different from how Nintendo are cashing in on the current 3D-fad, that's all it is.

Well the major corporation conferences really sucked. The Microsoft Kinect had some stupid little kids again. I didn't even bother with Sony or Nintendo. The new Wii tablet thing looks really stupid. However the games this year look amazing. Rage is probably the most beautifully looking game ever. Elder Scrolls Skyrim will keep me occupied for months. Oblivion was my favorite RPG of all time. BF3 will dominate MW3 in the shooter category. There are just too many good games to list.

Many of your statements wrong. That is how E3 is, and who knows how long it will be that way, but that is why there are many other gaming events that are open to the public.

And like I said, it wasn't Microsoft's best E3, but it wasn't terrible. I agree with you that some of the kinect demonstrations were ridiculous, but overall it was much better than their other 2 big competitors. And your entire paragraph saying "we don't care" and "we don't care" and "we don't care", etc., who is "we", you can only speak for yourself. The Disney game is ONE game, they have several more Kinect Compatible games coming out that were demonstrated that in my opinion (which we are all entitled to have) were very interesting and innovative. And they are trying to appeal to all audiences, which is great for the people and profits, offering a huge variety. I don't even have a Kinect at the moment, so I can't be a Kinect fanboy, and I can't be an "Xbox Fanboy" because I am not radical over many things, which includes gaming systems. I don't really care too much considering all these companies just want our money and to profit off of us. I owned a PS2 before on top of it and nearly bought a PS3, but the 360 was the way to go and has proven much better in so many ways compared to the 360 in my opinion, many critics opinions, and can even be seen in the huge number of 360's sold compared to the Wii and PS3. Plus, not all fo their demonstrations were all about the Kinect. Many of the other games they showed were very amazing! I'm not even a Forza fan, but wow, the graphics for the game like BF3 are insane!

And about the Kinect being better on the PC, Microsoft announced not too long ago that the Kinect is going to be used on the new Windows Operating System.

I'm sure it must have been on some agreement level that EA or Ubisoft did with MS to control what they put it. You're asking, what the hell, why would they do that and why would MS let them? Well, it's all in the competition. Let EA and Ubisoft show themselves as successors, then let MS bring out some fancy ad a couple months before a big release and get everyone super pumped.

I think your jumping the gun here. Microsoft has been known the last couple years too surprise people with unannouced titles and content.
