i bought a slim on ebay for 178 and a 250gb hdd for 35 so i got a steal if you shop around you can get good deals on ebay Winky Winky always get it new though, just for one main reason you do not know how the previous owner ran the system. i choose the slim over the other kinds due to the fact it is suppose to be rrod prone and it has a wireless adapter built in instead of spending another 100 on a seperate adapter. also the slims are suppose to run faster and can put out 1080p resolution compared to the elites 720. they also are alot better insulated and that is what makes them prone to rrod. i wouldn't even think about any other type of xbox the slim is the way to go.

Thanks for the groan and the negative rep much appreciated

And for your information the Xbox 360 had always been able to output in 1080 through the component cable even on the original core system this did not come with a hdmi lead slot from that point on the premium system was created which incorporated the hdmi slot again it was capable of 1080 hd. The the arcade was launched along with the elite and both came with hdmi ports as standard

If you need proof the Xbox 360 Was shipped with full 1080 Capabilities what better proof than a interview article after launch at the e3 showcase with Todd holMdahl - corporate vice president Of the Xbox Product group at Microsoft

Amazingly owning an Xbox since day 2 of release and later having to buy a arcade after a rrod system spoilt my gaming (incidentally back then you only got 1 year guarantee) gets you the knowledge to post my original post at which you groaned at but in real terms were wrong

However the Xbox has only had limited games released in 1080 as until recently there was a cap to 720p on games this isn't a system related issue although I have no idea why it was done it was and still is pritty common place for new releases

Who's the fan boy now

Also you will see on wiki about the previous xboxes available and there version since November 22 2005 u will see all console could transmit 1080i from the box a update was later added to Xbox live for download to enable 1080p resolution in October 2006
