Guy above me might legitimately be retarded. Now the XP500 along with the PX5 which are basically the same exact thing. The XP500 has a MW3 color scheme while the PX5 has a Black/Red on it. I own the PX5 personally and yes these things drain batteries I find myself changing out the batteries about every 3-4 days if I play a good bit and they don't turn off by them selfs which can be quite annoying if you have a tendency to forget. Although it is a great headset and I wouldn't trade it for anything in the world except the newer model. Since you would be getting the newer model anyway I would definitely recommend them. The newer model the BO2 one the Ear Force Tango is rechargeable, it doesn't use batteries I believe you just plug it in with a micro USB or something similar, so just plug it in when you get off and take it off the charger when you get on.
Not saying at all that it doesn't have great game sound because it does but if your a really hardcore gamer like Pubz are just too for you and you just play GB then I would get some Astros or Trittons. I have owned Tritton AX 720 and AX Pros but I would take these any day for the reason of functionality just nothing compares. From the completely wireless aspect, to programable, and finally the thing I couldn't live without is Bluetooth. Although I love to game I game for fun and so I love listening to music streaming from my phone to my headset without bothering anyone. Whether that means the game volume is in the background and music is turned up or vice versa it is an amazing feature for me.
Now I noticed you wanted to stay around $150 and these are like $270 so heres what I would do. Bite the bullet on the money or bite the bullet on the batteries. Either you pay $120 more for no batteries or you buy batteries I would buy batteries but anyway Newegg is selling the XP500's manufacture refurbished on eBay which as you know if a very reputable computer website and if you don't here you go
