Battlefield One has taken the gaming community by storm, and has even spawned trends such as #RIPCoD and has even sparked memes about the ongoing "CoD vs. Battlefield" debate. Dice has always been known and loved for making innovative strides in their games, their major innovation being dynamic destruction. Now, in Battlefield One, a new and innovative game mode is set to hit the stage, titled "Operations"{br}{br}

Operations is a game mode where there are two teams, defenders and attackers, who battle in environments based upon World War I. Attackers will attempt to take 'sectors' from the defenders, and defenders must fall back when the sector they are defending is over-taken (very similar to the game mode "Rush"). The score at the end of the map will be carried over into the next map, to allow a continuous, multi-map experience.{br}{br}

{quote}Typically, a round in a Battlefield game is completely contained to that one match. You play, you win or lose, and then you move on to the next round. That all changes in Operations, a new game mode coming to Battlefield 1. In it, the outcome of the current round carries over to the next map, giving you the opportunity to fight a sequence of inter-connected battles. ~ Dice{/quote}{br}

Stefan Strandberg, the lead SFX artist at Dice, stated how they really wanted to capture how intimately related battles of the first world war were, as well as innovate the Battlefield series at the same time.{br}{br}

{quote}We wanted to create a Battlefield experience that was not just bite-sized, but actually spanned beyond an hour of playtime. Something epic and compelling for players who wanted a chance to immerse themselves in this first global war, and capture the stories of how different battles were deeply connected to one another. ~ Stefan Strandberg{/quote}{br}
