Sega is joining the mini-console race by bringing back their classic retro console, the mini-Mega Drive.
A couple of weeks ago, Nintendo announced the release of their 31 year old NES being reproduced in a miniature way that comes pre-loaded with 30 classic games. It seems Sega either took notice or had the same idea as they have plans to bring back their own retro console, the Sega Mega Drive.

The officially licensed Mini-Mega Drive will come with 80 games on it and original Sega game cartridges. But theres a small catch to this. The Mini-Mega Drive will not be manufactured by Sega, although it is an "officially licensed" product. The manufacturer instead for the mini-Mega Drive will be "AtGames", who is best known for it's development of the Atari Flashback named "Classic Game Console", which unfortunately yielded less-than-stellar reviews.

One of the many issues facing the mini-Mega Drive will be that it does not support HDMI. It will only have the old composite outputs, even though the composites display a less than stellar view on LED TVs, especially considering all the retro games were created to be played on CRT monitors or those old box TVs.
The Mini-Mega Drive will only be available in Europe for time being, and It will retail at the same price as the Nintendo Classic. You can order the console online and have it shipped to America.
Retro consoles are officially back, albeit in miniature form.
