The Radeon Pro SSG was seen at this year's Siggraph computer graphics conference where it showed off it's ability to render raw 8K video at 30 frames per second with no issue. It's even rumored that the card could run at up to 90 framers per second. The card also features two PCIe 3.0 M.2 slots that allow an addition of up to 1TB of NAND flash memory straight to the graphics card.
If you're curious as to why someone would need that type of power in their graphics card, the main purpose of is to suit the needs of VR content creators and those in the medical and science fields which would benefit immensely from the high-end renders. AMD is specifically targeting these communities for the Radeon Pro SSG as they feel the advancement in technology justifies the immense price-tag of $10,000 for the beta-development kit. It's unlikely that the commercial version's price will change all that drastically when released.
Also debuting at Siggraph, AMD introduced its new Radeon Pro WX lineup, which replaces the FirePro range. The Radeon Pro WX 7100 is a sub-$1,000 chip built to allow professional VR content creation at a more affordable price, and the Radeon Pro WX 4100 features a half-height design that is small enough to fit into the AMD executive's pocket who unveiled the new graphics card. The Radeon Pro WX 4100, 5100, and 7100, will be available later this year.
