After 17 years, Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 (2009) players on PS3, Xbox 360, and PC can finally play together thanks to ClassicsGG.
Seventeen years after Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 launched, players on PlayStation 3, Xbox 360, and PC can finally join the same matches through a new open beta from ClassicsGG.
The project brings crossplay to the original 2009 game, connecting platforms that have traditionally played in separate online ecosystems. ClassicsGG says the beta uses dedicated servers and includes protections against hackers. In-game platform identification also shows which system each player is using.

That platform visibility could make mixed-platform lobbies easier to follow, while dedicated servers give the beta a shared foundation for matches across all three systems. For longtime fans, the bigger draw is the chance to revisit Modern Warfare 2 with friends regardless of whether they’re playing on a console or PC.
It may be 15 years too late for much of the original audience, but games like Modern Warfare 2 are a staple in the past time of many gamers. Without hackers nuking lobbies, the old days might be back.
