OMG did you read this?

I can't take it anymore!

I see it more and more on NGU, some of you know what topic I'm bringing up others will hopefully understand my point after these fue lines.

Why did you jailbreak?

  1. To get free games and apps
  2. To use my iDevice to its' fullest

Hope you answered this as honest as possible, I my self jailbreaked the first time in December, back then I did it for these two reasons, which is wrong, you should do it for one reason, reason number two. The jailbreak community is going down, the community is fild with people who are only after piracy, discusting in my opinion. I uninstalled Installous in February since I realiced that this was cruel to the developers of the apps and the community over all.
So what did you answer?

Maybe you say this "Im poor, I don't afford apps"

1 Why do you have an iDevice which is expensive?
2 Most apps cost 1 dollar, it's nothing! Those who develop the apps are like you and me, they go to school/work all day, but on their spair time they sit down and code, to make their own app, maybe make some money on the side, don't be a jerk and download it for free, pay for it!

The dev-teams and the other people involved with jailbreaking iDevices are not interested in piracy, all they want is an more open system that lets them mod it the way they want, they wont make more jailbreaks if all it does is give you the ability to download free games.

One last thing, on a interview on Modmyi.com with Stefan Esser [i0n1c] he projects this for the future:

STEFAN: I guess the jailbreak community might kill itself very soon. It is swamped by supposedly 12 year olds that only want to jailbreak to install pirated software and heavily insult everyone involved in making jailbreaks. And now these people already started hacking developer systems in order to steal jailbreaks. Comex and other keyplayers will soon get so tired of the iPhone jailbreaking scene that they will move to another target. I guess it just depends on the availability and coolness of the next closed system that comes around.

In conclusion, don't be a jerk, use your jailbreak for hombrews and other tweaks, NOT for piracy! We might save the community!

I agree with you I jailbreak my iDevice for the awesome tweaks not for Installous actually I hate that. Since I do a group of developers in the school I understand how bad it feel to see all your work been cracked. But we do a way to anti-piracy.

When I Jailbreak my friends iDevice I always install Installous and then I SSH into it and corrupt the app so that they can't actually use it.

I completely agree. My iPod is jailbroken, but I don't install cracked apps. I am completely against it. ALL my apps are paid for. Thank you for making this thread, you said what was on my mind way better than I could have.

Finally, somebody who doesn't wanna use Installous. Hopefully @i0nic makes a jailbreak that blocks piracy, meaning you cannot install Installous.

I have a question for all of you. Is this the same as piracy:

I bought an app on the app store, and I give someone my account details so they can log onto my account on their iDevice and download the app I just bought for free.

Is this frowned upon on the same level piracy through Installous is?
