You'd have thought that by ver 1.12 3arch would have added such check to the mp_self aswell. By this time is it's still not there then probably they aren't ever going to.
They say they have a strict policy against modders and cheaters but if that's true they would have grabbed that low-hanging fruit ages ago if it was on the table for them. So my guess is that to do so would mess something else up for them. Perhaps they need to retain the ability to replace the mp_self for themselves for game testing, etc.

I was saying that attaching a debugger is pretty useful to better understand the ban process. It's also just as important to log network packets with Wireshark.
