Last point and I will let this thread go.
Since it appears more and more likely that we are moving towards a per game playing fee and that portions of these fees will go towards funding these
network overseers. It is our right, as gamers that we require the same over watch placed on us to be placed on the companies producing these games.
A simple system of checks and balances will do nicely.
Have you ever been duped into buying a new game because the marketing commercials look really great only to get home to find the game lasted 2 hours and it wasn’t enjoyable at all?
Of course you have, you wouldn’t be a true gamer if this had not happened to you.
It is our right, as gamers to insure that games that cost $60 are indeed a $60 value for the gamer. If it is a half ass job then charge half the price. It is essential that we demand the same protection from the gaming gaints that they are demanding from us. A "Gaming Bill of Rights" so to speak, known now as the Code of Conduct for gamers should be placed on companies developing these games. Standard practices should be put in place to verify the quality, content and playability of each and every game produced that charges a premium amount for their game. If a company decides they cannot meet these standards then the price will reflect accordingly. The FCC regulates cable companies, NTSB regulates the airlines but who is regulating our gaming industry?
That’s like the Wild West out there.
Any company can just start up at will, produce a shitty game and sell it for $60. Sure we rate games, but the ratings are so skewed that there is almost no consistence leaving these rating useless. One site might rate a game with a 70, while another site would rate the same game with an 86. What does that 16 point difference mean? Nobody knows accept for personal preference of the rater. Maybe that person liked playing RPG’s or FPS and consistently rates Sports games with lower scores.
These practices will not change tomorrow, next week or even next year. But if we start now and ban together with other members from other communities in the long run these gaming companies will be forced to produce quality products by our rules and not theirs.
Gamers Bill of Rights
