You can't do much unless you can "decrypt" it. Recently I've been shooting the shit with a disassembler. I haven't done much but right now I'm just trying to make it say it's a higher version.
If you need a tutorial to use Charles then you probably aren't going to find it very useful. It only tracks http traffic but you can also map files on your computer to a certain address so you can rig most downloads.
If you're like me and you'd rather not firewire up to your hard drive you might find it useful though. Getting a modded update on is kinda simple. I'm not sure if you'll need it yet but here are some tools to get you started.
