Here's why:
PKG's are SIGNED with a Sony key. If you attempt to edit the file, it must be resigned. Say you do know the key. If you do, then why are you attempting to edit a PKG? You could just decrypt the HDD, then edit the file on the HDD. You could do much more than that, even, including making your own custom firmware which supports extracting game data to a USB Drive. Anyone who ACTUALLY thinks they have done anything with PKG's is wrong. Seriously. People with Debug/Test PS3's with all those extra debugging features can't even do anything with them. If you think that looking at these files in a hex editor is going to do anything, it won't.

Just a little something to prevent people from getting false hope.

I'm probably wrong about some of this, but I do KNOW that PKG's are signed and can't be edited in any way shape or form.

i know quite a few people working on this right now and there having a Huge success at it..they said it will probably be a matter of days..so soon..i for one got my nerd of a step dad to do mine..hes figuring it out like a piece of cake..i cant wait to have my challenge lobbys..i successfully did it once before but it crashed my hard drive but now i got him to do it and hes doing it all the right way...Cant Wait!!

So you come in here with you 67 rep saying you did something nobody else has done and ihatecompvir helped hunter hack patches and your telling him it is possible. I'm sorry but i think i speak for most people when i say i think il stick with believing Ihatecompvir.

Haha this is funny because hunter edited it. I know someone who has done a challenge lobby on ps3 that is neither of the 2 and knows how to edit the PKG.

i also agree with you, anything is possible, the PS3 is hackable its just the mission to actually find how to.
