Good question, he didnt necessarily have to. He may just have a debug unit, they are available. Also, the contents and parameters of the jig have been released, and everyone knows the unkn0wns program writing skills. I think it may be easier to just buy the debug unit. I found posts of hunters talking about this within the last week, However, im not going to provide a link; I understand privacy, and would not want someone linking my posts. I will however note that they are on a public forum.

Unknown wont have a debug cost to much and if he did he would still be doing challenge lobbies to get his money back and at the end of the day its only a game its not worth spending that much on it in my opinion

Debugs cost under $1000 it is highly possible for some to purcahse one, and host 10 lobbies with 18 players and make there money back

Seriously ,i think to made their mod TU & H doesnt use any files from ps3 .
Maybe they use packet injection just before you enter mp menu.
I've made some research about what iwserver send (with asniffer )
i found that :
when the game start ,when you're on the menu ,the ps3 send that :

***Ps3 to Server***
***Server to Ps3***
***description***

DNS Standard query A mw2-ps3auth.mmp3.demonware.net
DNS Standard query response A 209.170.122.125
Thats the authentification server
DNS Standard query A mw2-ps3-lsg.live.mmp3.demonware.net
DNS Standard query response A 209.170.122.124
maybe match multiplayer server
DNS Standard query A stun.us.demonware.net
DNS Standard query response A 69.60.4.116
Voip server /vocal tchat
DNS Standard query A stun.eu.demonware.net
DNS Standard query response A 209.170.122.204
Voip server /vocal tchat

After that ,the ps3 send exactly 375 packets of 1024bytes = 384000bytes of crypted data
And server send exactly the same number of packets .
Also ,when you quit the game and reload it ,the ps3 send this 375packets but dont receive anyone .
It's like this data is on memory ,and the ps3 need to verify or update this at each connection .

This is my part of help
i know anyone can run unsigned code on a retail ps3 (maybe on a very old ps3 with < fw 2.40 ).
