The Master
(adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({}); So basicaly i have done some tests with this file and these are the results.

- First i tried a 1.11 patch and deleted the default_mp.self and it worked (i know this is basicaly bypassing lol)

- Then i tried a non host patch and that works perfectly on 1.12 even without deleting the default_mp.self.

- After we tried loading mod menu patches on it with the default_mp.self (undeleted) and it just ran a normal patch not the hacked one.

- So basicaly there is either a script of some sort in the default_mp.self that disables mod menu and other scripts or there is another patch in there that basicaly when you load up mw2 if it reads both files and there not the same it will reset with the patch that is in the default_mp.self.

So i will be editing that and messing around with it and ile see what i can come up with.

Do a barrel roll!
I ha e no idea about hacking etc. But could an altered default_mp.self be made to block 1.12 and let you run cl and at the same time let you connect to those on 1.12

a SELF is a encrypted ELF binary. You need the firmware keys to decrypt, so no..

No there's no script in there they put patch.ff file in the default_mp.self and when u switch out the patch.ff file that's outside of the default file it does a self check for differences in the codes and if there is differences it uses the one in the default_mp.self file that came from pc freak not a copy paste but its more in depth then what he said Smile

so by firmware keys you mean the ps3's firmware how exactly is that related to modifying an elf/self

WOW. The whole PS3 is encrypted with numerous public/private keys. this includes the HDD, nand, and the boot-process. SELF's are encrypted ELF's.

You need the keys to decrypt the self. A ELF is a NON-encrypted binary BTW.

Well, they can decrypt the HV .self files now so there is no reason why you couldn't decrypt the MW2 .self.
Its just that none of the Devs have any interest in playing games so no one has done it yet..
