Post: 1.12 NEWB Friendly Base Mod Menu Patch
08-16-2011, 12:16 PM #1
(adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({}); First off, I would like to say to all the haters to GTFO somewhere else and stay off my post. I'm just trying to help out the newbs that you hate for editing your patches. That way, there won't be much "edits" anymore and everyone will be happy. Smile

Also, OMG! This IS something NEW for a 1.12 patch! It can be edited in any way you want and no one will flame about it. You can name the patch any name that you like. You can do whatever you want to it! The only thing I ask is to leave the credits for the base menu. If you don't then meh, whatever. I'm just glad you liked my patch enough to use it. :P

Now, to the fun stuff...
Most people on here who make their own patches do not like it if you take their patch and edit it. So I decided to "whip up" a CLEAN newb friendly base menu for anyone who wants to edit or learn about 1.12 patch making. There's 5 main menus and in the main menu's there's 5 sub menus. Everything is basically up front. Once you get the idea of how the main menu works then you can just start editing and adding more base menus, options, etc. If you still don't understand then I would suggest to go read up on 1.12 patch making first before you come back here.

NOTE: It is DEFAULT LAYOUT. So if you don't like it then too bad because I only play on DEFAULT. You can just change it yourself.
Start > Options to load up DVARS and load up the menu.
DPAD_UP to bring up the Main Menu
Scroll the menu with DPAD_UP and DPAD_DOWN
BUTTON_RSTICK to select anything from the menu.
O button to cancel/exit out of anything from the menu.
You must login or register to view this content.
You must login or register to view this content. (YES IT'S CLEAN)
The patch is XBOX 1.12 so that you can open and edit/redo it using FF_Viewer. I use BLUS 30377 for my PS3 convert. After you are done editing the XBOX patch, you will need to convert it to your region and rename it to just patch_mp before you ftp it to your MW2 folder. You can convert it using Buck's patch converter or something else you find on this website or "google".

Good luck.

I was provided steps earlier to fix it, but I can never get it working properly. I'm on the verge of asking for Team View help from someone to help me with this shit. To some it's easy. To some, it's like a goddamn rubix cube. :megusta:
Thanks for this. I'll open it when I get home, and see how I can do it. I can edit any patches in BuC's Fast File Viewer, but from there, I can't do anything. Thanks for this, bro. But if I get lost, please watch this thread. There are NO tutorials on how to FINISH the edit. They all give you a run-down on how to create it, but never to finish it. :y:

You need two PS3's as of this moment to use it. You can downgrade a PS3 right now to 3.55, and then upgrade it, but to downgrade from 3.56+ you need to have soldering skills, and it involves the mother board, which is, indeed, very freaky if you don't know what you're doing.

And here is my edit. Unfortunately, this would be cool if I knew how to do the models. I tried that a couple of days ago, and failed. :derp:
Like I was saying, Team Viewer would be my best option.

Good luck and if you need anything please don't forget to quote me because I rarely check this thread unless it gets quoted. :P

First question. How do I change the exiting out of the menu from circle to the DPAD LEFT?

That's going to be a lot of copy and pasting. You basically have to change every single "bind BUTTON_B" in the patch to "bind DPAD_LEFT".

Example:

set MENU "con_errormessagetime 90;bind BUTTON_B vstr EXIT; vstr MAIN_OPT1"

Change to:

set MENU "con_errormessagetime 90;bind DPAD_LEFT vstr EXIT; vstr MAIN_OPT1"

Example:

set MAIN_OPT1 "con_errormessagetime 0;con_errormessagetime 90;vstr MAIN_TITLE;cg_chatheight 13;Menu5;^2--^1Menu1^2--;Menu2;bind BUTTON_RSTICK vstr MAIN_OPT1_RUN; bind DPAD_UP vstr MAIN_OPT5; bind DPAD_DOWN vstr MAIN_OPT2;bind BUTTON_B vstr EXIT"

Change to:

set MAIN_OPT1 "con_errormessagetime 0;con_errormessagetime 90;vstr MAIN_TITLE;cg_chatheight 13;Menu5;^2--^1Menu1^2--;Menu2;bind BUTTON_RSTICK vstr MAIN_OPT1_RUN; bind DPAD_UP vstr MAIN_OPT5; bind DPAD_DOWN vstr MAIN_OPT2;bind DPAD_LEFT vstr EXIT"

OR if you are lazy and would just like a shortcut then just replace your Binds with this one:

ORIGINAL:

bind BUTTON_RSHLDR "+attack"
bind BUTTON_LSHLDR "+speed_throw"
bind BUTTON_RTRIG "+frag"
bind BUTTON_LTRIG "+smoke"
bind BUTTON_RSTICK "+melee"
bind BUTTON_LSTICK "+breath_sprint"
bind BUTTON_A "+gostand"
bind BUTTON_B "+stance"
bind BUTTON_X "+usereload"
bind BUTTON_Y "weapnext"
bind DPAD_UP "vstr MENU; +actionslot 1"
bind DPAD_DOWN "+actionslot 2"
bind DPAD_RIGHT "+actionslot 4"
bind DPAD_LEFT "+actionslot 3"
bind BUTTON_START "togglemenu"
bind BUTTON_BACK "togglescores"

NEW SHORTCUT:

bind BUTTON_RSHLDR "+attack"
bind BUTTON_LSHLDR "+speed_throw"
bind BUTTON_RTRIG "+frag"
bind BUTTON_LTRIG "+smoke"
bind BUTTON_RSTICK "+melee"
bind BUTTON_LSTICK "+breath_sprint"
bind BUTTON_A "+gostand"
bind BUTTON_B "+stance"
bind BUTTON_X "+usereload"
bind BUTTON_Y "weapnext"
bind DPAD_UP "vstr MENU; +actionslot 1"
bind DPAD_DOWN "+actionslot 2"
bind DPAD_RIGHT "+actionslot 4"
bind DPAD_LEFT "vstr EXIT;+actionslot 3" <--- added "vstr EXIT" for new shortcut
bind BUTTON_START "togglemenu"
bind BUTTON_BACK "togglescores"

Good Luck.

EDIT:

Don't forget to change this:
set EXIT "bind DPAD_UP +actionslot 1;bind DPAD_DOWN +actionslot 2;bind BUTTON_B +stance;bind BUTTON_RSTICK +melee;con_errormessagetime 10;"

To this:
set EXIT "exec buttons_default.cfg;con_errormessagetime 10;"

My GOD man. Why thank you. I would have wanted to use this, but there are no models in it. :FU: I can't do the HEX editor thing, and all of that other shit because I'm too dumb. :dumb:
But this is beautiful.

You wouldn't be able to put the models in here then convert to PS3 anyways. You have to convert to PS3 then put the models in there.

I can't. If I did then it'd have to be in PS3 format. If it was released in PS3 format then you wouldn't be able to edit the patch anymore. That's why I left it as XBOX format...

That's why when it comes to modded models, you'd have to do the offsets yourself on the final PS3 patch.
