5)AC130 has got 2 flares

But I see on a regular basis harriers and attack helicopters shoot flares. Sometimes even more than one.
Unfortunately I don't have a capture card, so I never bothered to record matches, but I swear I've personally tried to take down a Harrier with my stinger only to have it fly up to 3 (three!) flares, so I had to reload with scavenger to take it down.

I believe that only happened once though, but most often the attack heli and the harrier do fire 1 flare, sometimes 2 (I think harrier only).

So what is the deal with flares? Are those killstreak rewards supposed to release flares, or not?

This pisses me off, because in most matches your team (when you play with strangers) will never switch to an AA class to take them down, so not only I have to kill myself to switch because the team is getting butchered, but then I also have to waste precious time to take them down because they will release those stupid flares even though they are not supposed to (and in some maps you will get killed a couple times in the process, because it can be hard to acquire lock on them).

harriers and attack helicopters do not have flares... stingers and javelins just miss them once in a while. But it wont miss more than once, your just exaggerating.

Try it yourself (I play TDM only but I don't think it matters), keep an eye on the stinger and you'll see they shoot flares sometimes.
I'd appreciate it if anyone has a video or a capture card and can provide proof for it, otherwise I'll try to record a video with my camera when I have time.

Edit: someone suggests those are not flares but spent casings. I don't know, I'll have to check out the difference next time I'm in game, they did look like flares to me and the missile went totally off its trajectory and disappeared.

ive seen a harrier shoot flares lots of times since playing mw2, even an attack chopper does have 1 sometimes, however, ive only ever seen flares dropped when using a AT4, it never happens (that i can recall) by using a stinger

It's because the AT4 rockets aren't strong enough to destroy it in one hit. It takes 2. You can tell because when you fire the first rocket you get a hit marker.

no hit marker and i see clearly that the missile went of course aswell

Usually when I try with the AT4 I get hitmarkers

the enemy had a harrier and I only had one class with a javelin and when no one was shooting it down i took matters into my own hands.
I aimed, locked on, shot at it and somehow the missile CURVED round the harrier and hit me WTF

harrier does have flares, have you seen the "MW2 epic fail" video on youtube? Some kid shot a jav at the harrier and it flared that rocket right back at him and blew him up
At4 always gives hitmarker

i dont even know what flares do? do they make your missles miss or something some tell me please
