2)Harrier has got no flares
3)Pave Low has got 1 flare
4)Chopper Gunner has got 1 flare
5)AC130 has got 2 flares

But I see on a regular basis harriers and attack helicopters shoot flares. Sometimes even more than one.
Unfortunately I don't have a capture card, so I never bothered to record matches, but I swear I've personally tried to take down a Harrier with my stinger only to have it fly up to 3 (three!) flares, so I had to reload with scavenger to take it down.

I believe that only happened once though, but most often the attack heli and the harrier do fire 1 flare, sometimes 2 (I think harrier only).

So what is the deal with flares? Are those killstreak rewards supposed to release flares, or not?

This pisses me off, because in most matches your team (when you play with strangers) will never switch to an AA class to take them down, so not only I have to kill myself to switch because the team is getting butchered, but then I also have to waste precious time to take them down because they will release those stupid flares even though they are not supposed to (and in some maps you will get killed a couple times in the process, because it can be hard to acquire lock on them).

Isn't that the truth mine are ALWAYS shot down sometimes before it even gets a kill. I figure if i get one kill it's cause the guy stopped to long to try an lock onto it with his rocket. What pisses me off is mine gets shot down then a teammate gets a harrier and it puts in work kill's everyone :mad::mad::mad:

I don't usually bother shooting down anything i use cold blooded most of the time anyways. And everytime i try to some asshole pops around the corner and blasts me in the face.

89tang - I usually switch as soon as the air suppor comes in. I just change classes. If I have one man army on that's even better, but I usually dont.

you could be mistaken the harrier flares with missiles just sayin stingers are heat seeking and the missile from the harrier do have a "trail" (you might call it) of fire and mabey it followed that

I've been testing it a bit today, in a private match, Harriers would go down in 1 hit, but sometimes the stinger would change trajectory all of a sudden and miss.

No trace of flares.

Then I went into a regular match because I'd had enough of testing and guess what, first Harrier I try to shot down does the flare looking stuff and the stinger misses.

So I googled it, and apparently I'm not the only one who sees these flare looking stuff:
-Some say they don't pop flares
-Some say they do, sometimes.
-Some say they are spent casings (but then, how come you don't always see them, if the Harrier is shooting?)

I came accross and interesting theory though: someone says it could be a hidden effect from some perk.
I don't think it's likely, but that's something to consider.

I'm gonna see if my friends wanna test some more later, I'm just too curious to stop now ^^

I find it strange that AC130s pop off flares as they're flying away. No-one can lock onto it anyway so why deploy them? 0_o
