**** my Toaster !~!
(adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({}); I've always wanted to learn how to program, I've just never gotten around to attempting to learn.

Yeah, thats what I'm currently enrolled in college for, but haven't gotten to it yet, and have not attempted to learn anything on my own.

So how did you learn? Books? Internet? Just messing around?

Any tips or suggestions?

I feel like a bum, I'll be 21 this year and I know minimal if not nothing about programming..

Copy /Paste is actually a really bad way to do things, because generally you understand that function A does this and function B will do this, but you usually dont actually understand why, so when it comes to actually applying it or fixing something down the road, they are at a miss and have no idea what they are doing. It's best to actually learn a language then just jack code

Some great answers but personal I learned very good coding mostly from others, trial and error, and books Smile

Some great books out there can tell you rules, and basics of C++ and HTML etc. Also learning yourself and trying to code off other experiences of others and even doing it by trial and error can really teach you great and personal things Smile

If you know any body else, like any other friends or teachers go and ask them. Some teachers will be glad to help you, and can teach you some amazin gthings about programming Smile

I learned how to do programming in high school in a Tech. class which was a 2 year program and we used things for like php, C++ and stuff like that. I forgot some of that stuff but learning again like from websites and programs that I have.

Ok learn c++ by reading about the language in a begginner book. Then try and find a program made in another language such as an arrayextensions class or a streamextensions class. Then try and recreate it without any help or by looking/copying the source code.

-Kiwimoosical said to do this.

I learned xhtml javscript java etc. From tuts on youtube. What I do to really know the material is learn the basic concept then for a couple hours experiment and make webpages and little programs using the. "Blueprint" so to speak provided by the tutorial maker.practice makes perfect.
best regards,
Chad
