(adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({}); Hi NGU community, I have a Dell Latitude D520. And every time I turn it on it turns right back off. This happened for the first time Tuesday of last week. And it's been happening all day today. When I turn it on all the lights turn on and the fan comes on as well then it shuts off. Please help

Is there a blue screen (aka "BSoD" or "Blue Screen of Death") that appears before the laptop shuts back down? Does it have an overheating message?

I would say it's a GPU problem but if that was the case you just wouldn't get a display, it shouldn't shut off. By the sounds of it, either your AC adapter or your motherboard is damaged. Did you have the laptop plugged in during a storm that could have caused a power surge? If it's a bad motherboard you'll need a new computer as it's not worth fixing.

It's done this before and I left it alone that whole day and it worked the next day. I changed the ram on it last night and It still worked. When I changed the processor that's when it started doing it again

Did you ensure the processor was compatible with your BIOS / MOBO?

If you can, try removing the HDD and replacing your original ram sticks into the computer. If it turns on and passes POST, you can rule out the ram as being the problem, if not, then you might have faulty RAM, I've had this happen to me before myself.

If all fails and nobody can seem to provide successful answers on here and you've looked everywhere else, you might just want to take it in to a shop and see if anything can be done.
