(adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({}); I have an HP Pavilion dv6 running windows 7. I was playing cod waw then I stopped playing and rebooted. I got the HP logo then after that it hangs on the underscore with the black background. I can access the BIOS and stuff, all except for safe mode, as when I press F8 it doesn't work. I'm doing a hard disk test and I don't want to reinstall windows. I also do no have access to my cd eight now because I'm on vacation in California (1337 note, I saw Hutch in LA!). I do have access to 3 other computers because I have cousins here. I'm typing this on my iPhone so as you can imagine it took a while. Anyway, I had nothing plugged in except my wired mouse. I unplugged it and tried booting and it didn't work. I unplugged the charger tried booting, took outthe battery etc. I'm leaving my cousins house at about 12:00 pm PST. Im gonna shower so hopefully I get some replies. I don't want to be on a plane for 5 hours and 30 minutes flying back to Pennsylvania doing nothing.

Thanks

Edit: well try restarting your computer and continuously keep pressing F2 then run s test and or if your GB's of your HDD show then your HDD is ok the screen must look like this one You must login or register to view this content.

Forgot to mention it's a 64-bit. That looks like the one for my 32-bit desktop. Anyway at the top it says HP Advanced System Diagsnostics. I cant upload pictures since I'm on my iPhone but I hope to get some responses.

Easy fix, I had that it boots but stays at a black screen. :( I fixed mine by booting and pressing ALT F10 very fast, than Erecovery dialouge pops up.

Than simply format your computer to factory settings and you should be good Smile If itmdoesnt work the first time than try again

I also ran a startup test and a run in test. The memory and hard disk test take 1 hour each so I'm gping to do those on the plane. Anyway back to the tests I ran, they both passed. I'm not surprised it detects nothing.
