Open the Original Pack, you should be brought to 10 packs. You find the corresponding one to the Original Pack.

Wait for The Gold Jumbo packs ( personally got my best success from these)
At the Ultimate team home page, Press Triangle when the Deal appears, brings you to the page with the packs on.
Then Follow the method as you said above
& Yes, It works on Gold packs & premiums, but you have a higher chance of success with the Promo deals etc
