Facebook’s well-known and somewhat controversial CEO Mark Zuckerberg is apparently in danger of facing the death penalty in Pakistan. A Pakistani lawyer is said to have filed a petition with the court to have charges brought against the CEO and a couple of its co-founders for blasphemy against Muhammad, which is punishable by death in the country. This is over the same “Awesome faceraw Muhammad Day” Facebook Page that got the social network banned in Pakistan and later in Bangladesh.

According to a report by The Register, a lawyer, Muhammad Azhar Siddique, filed a First Information Report (FIR), which is regularly used to launch a criminal investigation. It appears that no charges have been filed so far, but the FIR refers to the Section 295-C of the Pakistan Penal Code, which covers blasphemy against the prophet.

"Use of derogatory remark etc, in respect of the Holy Prophet, whoever by words, either spoken or written, or by visible representation, or by any imputation, innuendo, or insinuation, directly or indirectly, defiles the sacred name of the Holy Prophet Muhammad (Peace Be Upon Him) shall be punished with death, or imprisonment for life, and shall also be liable for fine," that section reads.

It’s a serious offense, since it’s punishable by death or with prison for life. And if that wasn’t enough, you can also get a fine. Where does it end? The petition for an investigation is for Facebook’s CEO, co-founders Dustin Moskovitz and Chris Hughes and “Andy,” the woman that created the “Awesome faceraw Muhammad” contest.

Apparently, the lawyer that filed the petition says he expects the local police to contact the Interpol and that arrests should be coming soon. That’s a bit optimistic, to say the least. And if you think it’s a bit strange to file charges against the people that run a service that had nothing to do with the actual content, this is a country where ‘insinuated blasphemy’ is punishable by death, so it probably makes perfect sense.

What do you guys think of this?

Most of the critics of Islam and some sites which are promoting false propaganda against Islam quote the Verse

Kill the Mushrikoon (polytheists) where ever you find them , The Holy Qur'an, Chapter 9, Verse 5

to show that Qur'an Commands the killing of Disbelievers

This is quotation taken completely out of context. If you read the chapter(Surah At-Taubah) from the beginning the first verse talks about the treaty between the Muslims and the Mushriks (Pagans) of Mecca.

Freedom from obligation (is proclaimed) from Allah and His messenger toward those of the idolaters with whom ye made a treaty , The Holy Qur'an, Chapter 9, Verse 1

In the next verse The Meccans are given four months time to set things right otherwise a declaration of War and coming to verse [9:5], the complete verse is

But when the forbidden months are past, then fight and slay the Pagans wherever ye find them, and seize them, beleaguer them, and lie in wait for them in every stratagem (of war); but if they repent, and establish regular prayers and practice regular charity, then open the way for them: for Allah is oft-forgiving, Most merciful." The Holy Qur'an, Chapter 9, Verse 5

Hence if you read this in context we know that this statement was made in the battle field. Critics often fail to quote with context. Infact in the battle the Qur'an Commands that a person who seeks asylum should be escorted to a place of security.

If one amongst the pagans ask thee for asylum, grant it to him, so that he may hear the word of Allah; and then escort him to where he can be secure that is because they are men without knowledge." The Holy Qur'an, Chapter 9, Verse 6

The Qur'an explicitly forbids killing

Whosoever kills a human being for other than Murder or Creating Mischief in the Land, it is as if he had killed the whole of Human Kind and whoso saved the life of one as if he has saved the life of all Mankind The Holy Qur'an, Chapter 5, Verse 12

Nothing, I get where people are getting the fact of this is extreme and yes it is but don't be stereotypical.

How the hell is someone REAL being raped in anyway the same as drawing something that no one can prove? I'd take being drawn than being raped any day. That was just a poor metaphor on your half. I don't give two ****s if you tried to draw God and I doubt that any Christian would. Why would we? Sure, you have your beliefs and you're every bit entitled to, no one can say anything about that, but I really don't think they should be pushed onto non Muslim believers. Why should the whole world have to abide by your religion? Why can't non Muslims draw Muhammad or name a teddy after him without getting into trouble? They don't believe in him and don't go by your religion so why can no one draw him?

Well first, the "bible bashers" wouldn't care if someone denounced God, because they obviously don't believe in it if they're bashing the Bible.

Also, the Bible doesn't teach us to murder everyone who doesn't believe in it or people who draw pictures of Jesus Not Happy or Sad
