Facebook’s well-known and somewhat controversial CEO Mark Zuckerberg is apparently in danger of facing the death penalty in Pakistan. A Pakistani lawyer is said to have filed a petition with the court to have charges brought against the CEO and a couple of its co-founders for blasphemy against Muhammad, which is punishable by death in the country. This is over the same “Awesome faceraw Muhammad Day” Facebook Page that got the social network banned in Pakistan and later in Bangladesh.

According to a report by The Register, a lawyer, Muhammad Azhar Siddique, filed a First Information Report (FIR), which is regularly used to launch a criminal investigation. It appears that no charges have been filed so far, but the FIR refers to the Section 295-C of the Pakistan Penal Code, which covers blasphemy against the prophet.

"Use of derogatory remark etc, in respect of the Holy Prophet, whoever by words, either spoken or written, or by visible representation, or by any imputation, innuendo, or insinuation, directly or indirectly, defiles the sacred name of the Holy Prophet Muhammad (Peace Be Upon Him) shall be punished with death, or imprisonment for life, and shall also be liable for fine," that section reads.

It’s a serious offense, since it’s punishable by death or with prison for life. And if that wasn’t enough, you can also get a fine. Where does it end? The petition for an investigation is for Facebook’s CEO, co-founders Dustin Moskovitz and Chris Hughes and “Andy,” the woman that created the “Awesome faceraw Muhammad” contest.

Apparently, the lawyer that filed the petition says he expects the local police to contact the Interpol and that arrests should be coming soon. That’s a bit optimistic, to say the least. And if you think it’s a bit strange to file charges against the people that run a service that had nothing to do with the actual content, this is a country where ‘insinuated blasphemy’ is punishable by death, so it probably makes perfect sense.

What do you guys think of this?

Kill anyone that doesn't believe, suck my balls. Just because there are OVER 9000 of those damn Quaran following extremist bastards, doesn't mean they should enforce their shitty views about the penalty for not believing in Muhammad or whatever they seem to be on their period for.

No, I'm not a racist, I just hate certain aspects of certain religions. Especially when they're as extreme and pointless as this ****ing mong lawyer.

Using influence in numbers to get your way and to enforce your ideals makes you a fascist.

Mckay it's not the same thing. One major difference is their religion, you know Hindu/Buddhist and in Paskistan they're mostly Muslim.

I totally agree on this guy is completely wrong about getting the the guy who created facebook killed, but all the other comments that are directly pointed towards my religion, such as insults etc. Im totally against the teddy bear thing that happen, that was just ridiculous.

Im modern, im 16, you do not know how the negativity to islam is these days. That post I made was when I was angry reading other posts that other people made.

There's always someone trying to make islam look bad. They should just leave us alone, don't involve it in anything.

In my opinion, I think that the negativity is partly Muslims' fault. I mean like when they try and force their laws and religion onto other non Muslim people, people won't like it or accept it. It's like me going around to Muslim houses and forceing Christianity onto them. They won't like it one single bit. As for this facebook thing, he was in America when it happened and doesn't believe in Islamic views, so he has every right to do what he wants. It's not against the law in America to draw Muhammad (I'm guessing) so he has done nothing wrong. They can't say that he would face the death penalty because he wasn't in Pakistan at the time. If every time someone offends Muhammad you can't all go in a massive uproar about it, that will get you hated that you moan at every single thing against your religion. No other religion is like that, so why should Islams be like that? Why should they be different to the many other religions? You don't seem to be able to answer my questions, yet you get mad over it all.

The one making you look bad is that ****ing stupid extremist lawyer, don't blame the fact that he's bringing negative feelings towards your religion on us, retard. And "don't involve us in anything?" You're actually saying that we are the ones that are being irrational and that you think that it's not the fault of Islam extremists like that guy that make everyone think that your religion is crazy? With behavior like that, it's no wonder all these stereotypes are flying about.
