The US government I believe is now responsible due to BP's consistent display of failure. The government needs to step in, clean up the oil, and impose more restrictions on BP and other companies that perform off-shore drilling.

I heard that the valves that BP were using to try and stop the leak were US made. The valves obviously failed. In that sense, I say that US is to blame KIND OF for supplying faulty valves. As for the thing that caused the spill, I'm not sure what happened for it to leak except a big fire on the rig. I don't like it how Obama is calling BP British Petroleum when they have traded under that name for decades. To me that seems to be insinuating that Britains Government has something to do with it, when it hasn't. BP is a private company who has nothing to do with the Government.

It's BP's fault, they did not take the right precautions before AND after the explosion.

Which is why they require stricter government regulation after the cleanup of this disastrous spill.

BP should still be responsible for cleaning up the waters, it's not the US government's job to babysit them. If you cause it, you have to fix it.

The spill is in no way the governments fault. The clean up is another story all together, the US should take over the clean up process and back charge every penny (with intrest) to BP.
I know its easy to look at it and come up with a solution on how to stop the leak when your not involved, but I still do not understand why they just don't blow it shut.

This oil spill is much bigger than labels we give to groups of people, it's about humanity as a whole. If we don't fix this ASAP it's going to have a huge impact on how we live.

BP is responsible, but every politician in DC has their hands in BP's pockets. BP will give out only enough money for it to keep it's PR in check.
