BP (British Petrolium), now commonly know in the Southern United States as Bye-bye Planet, has recently been the cause of, “the worst oil spill in U.S. history.”

Clearly State:

  • Who should be responsible for the clean-up. (BP/The United States Government) Why?

  • If this disaster will have a significant effect on ocean-life. (In your perspective.)

Thats the bad thing about politics in the US now days, the government has their hands in everything. Do I think BP should pay for the clean up-HELL YES, but I know for a fact that their will be allot of scammers trying to get their hands on the $20 million (or billion I can't remember-sorry). I have already heard of a few cases of peices of shits going to Texas claiming they were impacted by the spill. The news story I heard was about a CEO of a internet firm (one that failed last year) is claiming his company would still be in business if it werent for the spill-----COMPLETE BS.
Sorry for the rant, I feel the people impacted should get some, but the scammers should go to jail for a long time.

Uh.. when it threatens US coastlines and the US economy as a whole, yeah, it becomes the US government's problem.

What drunken said, we have to help with everything, I mean EVERYTHING. We need to supervise BP to make sure they are repairing the well, but do we really to give them $$$ just because of their mistake? No.

Wtf, why would BP's stupid mistake be the US Government's fault? That is a British company, it's not even a US company so I don't see how it relates to the US other than the fact that they screwed us up... I hope BP goes bankrupt after they have to pay that $20 BILLION pension fund. They screwed up the whole ocean..

This is what pisses me off with people get your facts right before typing, I'll break it down for you

The blown-up oil rig was built in South Korea, owned by a Geneva-based company and operated by an American company owned by BP.

But BP, 39 per cent owned by Americans, is led by a British plonker named Tony Hayward. Calamitously, the public face of the disaster has an English accent.

So as you can see yeah this is a "British" company right?

And also, if any government would pay, it would be the British government because BP is BRITISH Petroleum.

Who dares, wins.
People need to understand, that American needs all these Oil rigs to keep the price of petrol down for them. Also the Rig was owned by BP but it was a US company that were operating the rig. The fault was not caused by BP alone if at all, it was poor co-operation from both sides that caused the explosion.
