I don't think it's just the parents, it's the entire Country (Britain) that needs to do something. Take this for example. Some guy tried to sell the Ritz Hotel for £250 million when it's in excess of £600 million. The guy was a fraudster, and didn't have anything to do with the Ritz. He got sentenced to (or could be sentenced to) 5 years in prison, for fraud. Now, some teenagers happy slapped an OAP and it killed him. They are getting 18 months in prison. What's worse out of them two? You can kill someone you don't like and get maybe 2 years if you plead manslaughter. You get in a fight on a friday night, you get a fine and a night in the cells. You steal, you get a slap on the wrist. The whole system needs changing. Did you know that in prisons in England they get video games, LCD TV's, gym equipment and other things for being a criminal? Bring back the death penalty in Britain for child killers. Build more, bigger prisons. That's what I think. So to answer you question, it's partly the parents fault and partly societies fault.

So, basically you're saying that we should scare people into being good? Prison should be a good place, where people can be thought to be good and learn social skills, not something they should piss their pants when they think about, but a good place while still being a place one doesn't want to go.

On topic; it's mostly about primary socialization in homes, by parents and family, but of course you can't blame your parents for everything bad a teenager do.

Oh, and do you really think it's easy to go on living when you have the whole life in front of you, and you KILL someone and are responsible for their death? I know I wouldn't have been able to do it.

IMO.

As long as parents stay involved their childrens lives, what they are doing, who they hang with, and establish and enforce consistant ground rules, they shouldn't be blamed for their kids decisions.
Its the parents who are too busy or lazy to parent their children and would rather let the TV, schools, or anyone else take reponsibilty that can be blamed.

I don't know if kids are more reckless today but they are more exposed to reckless behavior and at an earlier age.

People still have their human rights you know. Even if one does something wrong, I don't believe in their human rights being taken away as well.

"That guy raped someone, so let's step on him, feed him with crap, let him know that he's a worthless piece of crap, and then once he's released after sentencing his 30 years in prison, he'll probably just forget about it, go on living normal, and never think or do anything about it again".

Listen to what is said in the video. Especially on the part where one of the prisoners talk about the fact that this is a prison.

The country of where this kind of prisons originate, and the longest prison sentence one can be sentenced to is 21 years, has the lowest murder rate on our whole planet.

Rehabilitation is the right way to go. If we can do that, and the criminals stop committing crimes when they are released, we as a society have gained much more than if we took the easy revenge way.
