17 Year Old Arrested For Hacking Black Ops

A 17 year old hacker from Manchester, United Kingdom has been arrested for a hack putting Black Ops "Out of Commission". The hack was named "Denial of Service" and left many pc users unable to play the game.

Supposedly a malicious program called "Phenom Booter" was behind this. This was being put up for sale on some forums and it would allow you to score more points on COD and stop others from playing.

Activision was quick to act as they tracked his I.P. address and contacted police to have the kid arrested. He is in custody at the moment and awaiting further assessment. My thoughts when I read this was, "Was that worth it getting arrested for something as dumb as this" I mean come on, you just got yourself in a heap of trouble for a pointless hack that just makes the game unplayable for others. I can understand prestige glitching and etc. But this is taking it a little too far in my opinion. What do you guys think? Should people draw a line on hacking COD?

It is a right to be able to edit games. It is the EXACT same thing as jailbreaking an iPhone. It is legal so he should get paid for a false arrest

But like I said to the other guy, this isn't just a XP or CL hack this was making the game unplayable for people. Jailbreaking an Iphone is different as it isn't negatively harming anyone

You guys who said he should be released don't seem to realize what the hack did, it was a DOS attack basically, he crashed their servers, he was obviously too dumb to hide his IP in the process...

Thats not really "hacking" but yeah that is illegal who ever its against and why would he use his own IP that is like robbing a bank with a big sign on your back with your name and address on it.

This means that we are living in a silly world! Why?

1) A 17 years old guy is paying to hack a video game instead of thinking of his future.

2) Stupid police arresting someone for hacking a video game , WOW!

3) A more idiotic publisher fails to release un-hackable game as they claimed so they decide to sue people for hacking their video game.

Possibly add the fourth of a 17 year old buying a game DoSing the servers so they are unplayable therefore spending however much not to play it.

So pretty much it was like an XP Lobby + Lag Switch combined into a file for Black Ops?
