17 Year Old Arrested For Hacking Black Ops

A 17 year old hacker from Manchester, United Kingdom has been arrested for a hack putting Black Ops "Out of Commission". The hack was named "Denial of Service" and left many pc users unable to play the game.

Supposedly a malicious program called "Phenom Booter" was behind this. This was being put up for sale on some forums and it would allow you to score more points on COD and stop others from playing.

Activision was quick to act as they tracked his I.P. address and contacted police to have the kid arrested. He is in custody at the moment and awaiting further assessment. My thoughts when I read this was, "Was that worth it getting arrested for something as dumb as this" I mean come on, you just got yourself in a heap of trouble for a pointless hack that just makes the game unplayable for others. I can understand prestige glitching and etc. But this is taking it a little too far in my opinion. What do you guys think? Should people draw a line on hacking COD?

Usually when people do crimes they don't think a step ahead, so i'm for certain he didn't ever think he was going to be arrested.

I think it was his own fault. First of all, he went too far with the hack, he shouldn't have restricted others to playing. That's pointless. On the other hand, he's that dumb enough to not change his IP after doing the hack.

Overall, it's his fault, he's guilty for doing retarded stuff.

Do a barrel roll!
this seems like an old SC hack to me where you could boost your mineral count etc, and then boot other players from the game. Was quite unfair but they couldn't do anything about it. The fact that they now found a way around it to arrest this kid seems unfair in my opinion because they never arrested the people who did it on other games like SC or CS

Ok, I can understand hacking a bank account, paypal/anything to do with other peoples money, private details etc being hacked/released and getting arrested for it, fair enough. But when it comes to the police to arrest someone who just messed up a video game, that's too ****ing far. Do they not have better things to do, like arrest known drug dealers, murderers, muggers, rapists and other criminals they need to look out for/catch, or does this prove my point of police only looking for easy "criminals"? A video game isn't going to harm anyone, so what if people can't play online for a bit. The police should have better things to do and Activision shouldn't bother them with stupid ****ing "crimes". What do I pay tax for? To feel safe on the street or just so I can play a game online? It's deffo not the latter.
